Hi! I'm Mrs. Shaffer. I am thrilled to be a part of the Prairie Ridge team, and especially glad to be a part of your child's life. I am a farm girl loving life in the city. I live here with my husband, Mick Shaffer, and three children: Aidan (11), Abram (7), and Avery (3). I love spending time with my family, when I am not with your children! After growing up in a small rural area, I found myself going to Southwestern College in Winfield. Besides earning a BA in Elementary Education there, I played Volleyball and ran on the track team. Most currently I am a graduate from Baker's University. I completed my Master's Degree in the Spring of 2011.
After graduating from Southwestern, I got a job teaching in Caldwell, KS. There I taught a year of 4th and two years of 3rd. My husband and I relocated to the Kansas City area in 2001. I taught in KCK Public schools for 6 years before moving into the De Soto school district. This is my 17th year of teaching. I very much enjoy and look forward to teaching at PRE another year. I also love sports - volleyball, golf, softball, and running. We spend a lot of time watching our kids play sports as well as cheering for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, (Go Pokes), the boys in blue, and the Chiefs.
